Greek: Nike. Athena, as Goddess of Victory, was worshiped at Athens and Megara. At the entrance of the Acropolis of Athens is the well known Temple of Athena Nike (Victory). More properly it is the Temple of Athena Aptera (Wingless Victory) The Magarians had three Temples of Athena: one on the top of the citadel, the other of Athena Victory and the third of Athena Aeantis (Ajacian). |
